Yellow Warbler

I am linking up my  post with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

For this week's post from my archives  I am showing the  Yellow Warbler. The Yellow Warbler below is a bird I saw while in Curacao. There is definitely a difference between the Yellow Warbler in Curacao compared to the Yellow Warbler I see here in Maryland during the summer.

The Curacao Yellow Warbler has a rusty colored spot on its head. The reddish streaks are the same on the Yellow Warbler seen here in the states.

Above is the back of the Curacao Yellow Warbler, the rusty spot is very obvious.

The warblers are cute birds and I enjoyed seeing the "new" Yellow Warbler during my trip. Thanks for stopping by to see my wild bird.

    Greetings Eileen!!!

Just popping in this morning to send along my wishes to you and yours...that you have a very happy holiday season.

Will see you again in 2013, when I return to blogging after my hiatus, enjoying the company of my sister from Colorado. I haven't seen her in nearly 10 years. This will be a treat.

  7. Hi Eileen!
Sweet little bird you got today! Nice photos! It looks a bit like our Yellowhammer.

I also hope the pheasant is safe near all the parked cars. There is a small river beside the building there.
    Merry Christmas to you!
    Greetings Pia

  12. Hey there!!! Oh my gosh, I've been on the road over the past several days and been meaning to stop by. I feel so bad for not writing back to you right away. Crazy time of year for all of us. You are absolutely correct about the Yellow Warblers. How can they be the same bird? Unless it's the environment. Like certain plants, for example, they may grow in different places but they don't always flower....it's interesting.

  13. What a pretty little bird Eileen, so very colourful! It reminds me a lot of our Yellowhammer. I also enjoyed seeing all the birds on your previous post. How lovely that you have a lake so close to home. I would love that. I never cease to be amazed by the stunning colour of your male Cardinals.

I was so very sorry about the terrible tragedy which has befallen the poor souls in Newtown....my heart aches....
