Eagles and more

Hello, I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday.

Today is my birthday and I am wishing to see a new bird. A Common Redpoll or a Crossbill sighting would be nice. I do not wish for much do I ?

On Saturday, hubby and I took a ride up to the Susquehanna River to see the Bald Eagles. This is a great time of year to see lots of eagles and juvie eagles migrating besides the year round eagles.

There was one tree with five eagles but only these two were sitting close enough to get them in the same shot.

It is hard looking straight up into a tree for a good shot. The lighting is usually horrible.

After leaving the river we made a stop at the Susquehanna State Park picnic grounds. I loved the reflection of the trees in this pond.

A Kingfisher was sitting in a tree near the pond. Of course there were a lot of branches all around it. I am on a quest to get a decent Kingfisher photo.

A pretty female Dark-eyed Junco was also near the pond. Yesterday started off a cold and windy day but it warmed up by the time we reached the picnic grounds. Nice weather for a walk and some birding.

I hope you enjoyed my eagles and photos.

  4. Happy Birthday to you!!! I think those are wonderful birthday presents to wish for.....and I hope you find them. I know how exciting it can be:)

Like you, I constantly battle the light and a better chance to capture a Kingfisher in a picture. And course see the great American symbol of the Bald Eagle. I may get a chance at the end of the month. What a treat to see these birds all hanging out in the tree.

My favorite shot is of the trees reflecting on the water. That is incredibly gorgeous. So I hope you're not on this thing and out exploring:) Feliz cumpleaƱos!

  43. Why is it that birds turn their backs to us when we want to take their photo? and yes sometimes taking pics straight up into the tree is hopeless for lighting. Love the reflection images.

Birds seem to enjoy teasing us by sitting with their back to the sun thereby being backlit.
